Internet Resources and Second Language Activity


	Internet resources are growing fast and becoming available to a 
larger numer of users. Moreover the development of World Wide Web Browsers 
(and especially Netscape) has brought about the much needed "user 
friendly" interface to these resources.
	The Internet is a tool of daily communication for 50 million 
people. The number of user is almost doubling every year. Language is a 
form of communication. Many of the Internet resources can be put to 
the service of language activity.
	Internet communication may be more or less fast, interactive or
non-interactive, reliable or less reliable, secure or non-secure, etc. 
etc. The tools of Internet communication are mainly the implementation of
Internet protocols, such as Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (email), Hyper
Text Transfer Protocol (WWW), NNTP (News), File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
gopher, Wide Area Information Servers (WAIS), etc. etc.
	We are going to focus especially on Electronic Mail and on the 
World Wide Web.
	Also, we may distinguish between two main types of second language
activity:
